My family always ask me to find them things on the web for them. Usually they are amazed at how fast I find them, but its just cause I've had a lot of practice and a favorites list of almost every kind of site. I thought I'd share some of them with you here.
Search Engines
Google and AlltheWeb are the two best search engines in my opinion. They turn up different results usually so its best to try both. Yahoo and Excite are great for creating custom homepages if your into that. They have a large assortment of things for you to choice from for your daily viewing pleasure. About.com is really good for connecting you with sites in a general topic. Let's say you want to know more about Gardening but don't know where to start, they will have a guide that breaks it all down for you and connects you with links to websites that are really helpful. Download.com is a great search engine for downloading programs. They have reviews, lists of popularity, a good description, and generally they try to make sure that their material is virus free.
